FINDLAY, Ohio — A bar owner was caught in a physical altercation with a female bartender. The video showing that attack has more than 100,000 views as of March 5, 2019.(Warning: The video contains strong language.)Police arrested Dale Suter, owner of Walnut Saloon in Findlay, for his role in the the attack that occurred February 28, 2019.The bartender’s daughter recorded the video on her cell phone and then uploaded it to Facebook.Mr. Suter would not talk to us on camera, but claims it was the bartender who attacked him first. The 34 second video shows Suter in a heated argument with a female bartender. The female bartender and Suter go back and forth about a sign on the wall. It’s unclear from the video what exactly led to the exchange. After she tells him to “shut-the-.-up”, Suter becomes irate and comes around the bar to confront her face to face. He repeatedly tells her to get her things and leave while walking back behind the bar. It’s not the argument that has the citizens in Findlay concerned, it’s what happens next that shocks them.In the video, Suter appears to lunge for the woman’s neck with both hands. He then violently shoves her up against the bar, lifting her off her feet.Suter explained to NBC 24 off camera that the woman took a swing at his face first, and then he pushed her up against the bar.We showed a few Findlay residents the video of the fight.“Wow, he definitely shouldn’t have put his hands on her, that’s wrong,” said Erika Wott.“He grabbed her by the throat and put her over the bar, that’s not appropriate,” said Twanette Prince.Suter says he has known the woman for a while, and said her life has been difficult.
He says he was giving her a second chance by giving her a job.“The Walnut Saloon has always been the place to go, but after seeing that happen, it just appalls me,” said long-time Findlay resident George Speck. After viewing the video, it’s hard for Speck to fathom any reason why things should have become physical.“It did’t matter what the outcome was, he shouldn’t have done that. That’s wrong for him to do that. For any guy to put his hands on a woman like that,” Speck said.Suter was charged with assault after the attack. He’s expected to appear in court on March 13, 2019.
